No one ever asked me to write before. But last Thursday, the editor of the Diocesan Post asked me to reduce a 4000 word essay (somewhat rambling) to 2000 words for publication. She also has published a letter of mine on 'the issue' in the same issue.
Do not doubt that I have agonized over this for 50 years.
